“I’m running because our families, small businesses, and rural communities deserve a stronger voice at the State Capitol,” said Riess. “Southwest Colorado is facing real challenges—housing costs, water security, and healthcare access. We need common-sense leadership that focuses on practical solutions, not politics as usual.”
Riess’ campaign will focus on:
Former HD 59 candidate and current Ignacio Mayor Clark Craig has announced that he will not seek the seat again and has endorsed Riess in the race. “Clark has been a strong community leader, and I am grateful for his support,” Riess said. “I am honored to continue the effort he began, and I look forward to carrying that baton forward—working hard for the families and communities of Southwest Colorado.”
Raised with strong values of hard work and service, Riess brings both professional experience and a community-first perspective. She is committed to listening to constituents and ensuring their voices are heard in Denver.
“I’m not a career politician—I’m a mom, a neighbor, and a businesswoman who understands the everyday struggles people face here. I’ve helped countless landowners and developers navigate successfully through regulations. My focus is on results that make life better for families across La Plata, Archuleta, Montezuma, and San Juan Counties,” Riess said.
The campaign invites supporters to join in building a movement for a stronger, more affordable, and more accountable future for Southwest Colorado.
