The Board of Directors of Southwestern Colorado Livestock Association is proud to endorse Naomi Riess for Colorado House District 59.
Over the past year, Naomi has taken the time to visit with members of our association on numerous occasions, listen to the concerns of Southwest Colorado’s agricultural community, and learn more about the challenges facing farmers, ranchers, landowners, and rural businesses. Her continued interest has demonstrated a genuine commitment to understanding and representing the people who live and work in rural Colorado.
Naomi brings more than 33 years of professional experience as a land-use consultant and small-business owner. Through Riess Research & Planning, she has worked directly with farmers, ranchers, property owners, businesses, county governments, planning commissions, and regulatory agencies on issues including land-use regulations, permitting, water, development approvals, private property rights, and long-range planning.
That experience is especially valuable in a district like ours, where decisions made at the State Capitol can have significant consequences for agriculture, water rights, property owners, natural resource development, and the economic viability of our rural communities.
Naomi also understands agriculture personally. As the owner of Colorado Heritage Farms, she has firsthand experience with the responsibilities that come with caring for land, raising animals, managing water, growing food, and practicing responsible stewardship. Her involvement with 4-H, the La Plata County Fair, Master Gardeners, and other community organizations further demonstrates her appreciation for the agricultural traditions that are so important to Southwest Colorado.
Throughout our conversations with Naomi, we have been impressed by her willingness to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and approach issues practically. She understands that protecting our rural way of life requires strong private property rights, responsible management of our water and natural resources, reasonable regulations, and an appreciation for the farmers and ranchers who feed our communities and care for the land.
We believe Naomi Riess has the experience, knowledge, work ethic, and understanding of rural Southwest Colorado needed to effectively represent House District 59.
The Board of Directors of Southwestern Colorado Livestock Association is pleased to support Naomi Riess and encourages the voters of House District 59 to join us in supporting her election to the Colorado House of Representatives.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
