I am pleased to offer my strong support for Naomi Riess.

I have lived and worked in the Durango area since the 1970s and had the privilege of serving our community for two terms on City Council and two one-year terms as Mayor. Through decades of work in business development, economic incubation, and local governance, I’ve learned how important it is to have leaders who understand how decisions are made, and how they affect people on the ground.

I have been aware of Naomi’s long-standing community involvement for many years and have recently had the opportunity to get to know her better through our morning Toastmasters group. Her preparation, curiosity, and respect for differing perspectives consistently stand out.

Through her work in land-use consulting, Naomi has helped individuals and businesses navigate permitting and regulatory processes with clarity and care. She understands state and local regulations in real-world terms and brings a practical, thoughtful approach to complex issues. She asks the right questions and understands the broader economic and community impacts of policy decisions.

Naomi Riess understands the needs of the people of House District 59, and I am confident she will serve our community with sound judgment and common sense.
